PearlDry Plus

PearlDry was first implemented on the Heidelberg Quickmaster DI in 1995, and Presstek continues to make improvements in plate design and manufacturing processes. PearlDry plate material is supplied in polyester-backed spools that contain 28 or 36 plates. This innovative plate design-working in conjunction with Presstek's laser imaging system-results in an optimized DI press that delivers high-quality output and a high degree of consistency and durability.

PearlDry plates are also environmentally friendly. The thermal laser imaging process eliminates hazardous waste associated with conventional lithographic plate production. The non-photographic plates eliminate the disposal problems and costs associated with processing chemistry. Since it is a waterless plate system, fountain and alcohol substitutes are also eliminated.

PearlDry supports a wide variety of waterless inks and offers run lengths up to 20,000.

As a key element of its environmental program, Presstek offers a recycling program for used spool DI plate material. When loading a new set of plates into a DI press, the user simply places the used material in the shipping carton and seals it, affixing the shipping label which has been provided. This program reduces the amount of waste a printing company must dispose of and allows a significant portion of the plate spool to be recycled by Presstek.
