Simple control, sophisticated functions, high productivity
The 9980’s continuous dampening and high-capacity inking system gives it the ability to produce bright colors, excellent solids, sharp, open halftones and fine line art. Built-in features ensure excellent register for maximum productivity. From the time the sheet leaves the pre-loadable paper feed table, until it is delivered into the receding chain pile delivery system, it’s under total control. An interchangeable left-to-right push side guide makes it well suited for work-and-turn applications.
The segmented lever-actuated ink fountain delivers more precise ink control in each region. Calibrated setting numbers provide a good starting place for ink densities. Graduated levers allow quick profiling of the current ink supply; and by raising or lowering the levers, fine adjustments to the flow of ink can be easily made for better color control and image consistency.
While printing, vertical image adjustment is done with the turn of a dial – and it’s not necessary to clean the blanket afterwards. Also, diagonal micro adjustments to the sheet can be made while the press runs. A straight-edge plate clamp with positioning pins fixes the plate securely in place, for the long run. Double-sprung grippers maintain constant pressure to hold the paper firmly during high speed operation.
The one-touch universal feeder provides dependable paper feed. Double-sheets are automatically detected and ejected without interrupting the printing process. Designed for easy operation, a single lever controls dampening, inking, paper feeding and printing. Push-buttons activate low speed inching and stop the plate cylinder at predetermined positions to allow fast plate mounting/removal and blanket cleaning.
Optional Units Extend Versatility, Add Value
Second Color Head - Get excellent two-color results with this second-color head. Swing-away or slide-out is not necessary so plate mounting, feeder settings and blanket cleaning is easy. Automated features make operation simple. Tight register is achieved with the same plate clamp and image adjustment capabilities as the parent press.
NPD Unit -
Print, number, imprint and perforate all in a single pass with the NPD unit. Built-in connections to the parent press make it simple to attach.
When the press is equipped with both a second color head and a NPD unit, you have the option of printing two colors on the parent press and a third spot color on the NPD unit.
